    On a recent early morning road trip in North Florida I found myself driving along a stretch of Gulf coast in Panama City Beach when hunger pains set in. Like a mirage in front of me, a funky food stand with glaring lights appeared in the hazy dawn. The big blue-and-white sign read: Thomas' Homemade Donuts (850.234.8039). I thought I died and went to heaven.

    Get Ready to Cycle

    There are 16 bikes and 16 riders. The Tour de France plays on the TV for all to see. At the head of the pack sitting strong in the saddle is Team Velocity leader, Chris Fix, motivating all with his steady pace and colorful roadway imagery. Background music pulses.

    Still Laughing After 35 Years

    Most families who visit Walt Disney World (disneyworld.com) have the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort on their must-see list. Despite covering the Disney parks for more than 10 years, I have never seen this Wild West dinner show, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary (getting a table is a three-month wait). So I was thrilled to be invited and seated at an almost front-row table.

    That wasn't H1N1 you caught earlier this month. That was Baselitis, the dreaded art flu that comes with dry mouth (from the excessive Perrier-Jouet) and lower back pain (from walking up and down and up the aisles of the Miami Beach Convention Center).
