- November 4th, 2009Lobster Stew to Die Forby Susan Friedman
Here's a declaration: The Locke-Ober's lobster stew at the new Cape Cod Room restaurant (305.864.1262) in Miami Beach just might be the most delicious soup I've ever tasted. The Chef told me it takes three labor-intensive days to create-seriously. Tucked into the exclusive Bath Club on Collins Avenue, the restaurant is hardly haunted by its past (it was a cafeteria in the 1950s-bet that crowd was known for swim caps with flowers on top). - November 2nd, 2009New in Midtown Miamiby Ana Connery
Midtown is no longer no man's land. Ever since the Miami neighborhood debuted a couple of years ago, there was little but slick condo towers, a Target and Loehman's. Today, two new European-inspired hot spots stand a chance of luring folks away from downtown and the neighboring Design District. - October 22nd, 2009FT+L's Weekend of Discoveryby Susan Friedman
We had a blast at our very first Weekend of Discovery, held at the Jupiter Beach Resort (jupiterbeachresort.com). I really like the resort's rich traditional interior (think British Colonial/Tommy Bahama). This gem on the Atlantic coastline has a fabulous spa and Sinclairs, a wonderful gourmet dining spot. Our Weekend of Discovery room rate included a spa treatment, a wine-paired dinner and a Sunday jazz brunch.

- October 22nd, 2009Touring Sarasota's Opera Houseby Susan Friedman
I had a chance to tour the Sarasota Opera House (sarasotaopera.org) recently and even caught a glimpse of a young performer practicing his role in Verdi's La Traviata. One of only a dozen or so opera houses still in the country, the Sarasota Opera is celebrating 50 years. A stunning and surprisingly intimate venue (approximately 1,100 seats), it's also used by the Sarasota Symphony and Ballet. I stood on the stage looking outward, humbled by the talent that had graced this historic space.
