Editors' Choice

• June 24-Sept. 6 — Daytona Beach rocks this summer with the debut of the American Music Festival. Catch top country, blues, jazz, pop and rock artists as they take center stage every Friday at the historic Daytona Beach Bandshell. Produced by Daytona’s Community Cultural Foundation, this is one of the largest music events the city has ever seen.

Southeast

• May 14-16 — Find orchids galore at the Redland International Orchid Show at Homestead’s Fruit and Spice Park.
• May 15 — Some 60 restaurants and 40 wine-tasting tables bring foodies together at the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival in Fort Lauderdale.
• May 20-23 — Downtown Miami’s Arsht Center hosts the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, known for choreography that celebrates the African-American cultural experience.
• June 6 — Dance to Caribbean rhythms at the Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival in Coconut Grove. Tropical cuisine and entertainment draw large crowds.
• June 5-10 — Celebrate coral reefs and shipwrecks at the Key Largo Reef Fest. An underwater photo competition, treasure hunt and seminars on Key Largo’s reefs are among the highlights.

Southwest

• May 2 — Held at Bayfront, the Taste of Collier in Naples features savory samples from 30 of Collier County’s best restaurants as well as local entertainment and ice-carving contests.
• May 31-June 19 — The 2010 Sarasota Music Festival brings up-and-coming musicians from around the globe to the Sarasota Opera House. The classical repertoire includes Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.
• June 1-14 — Discover Sarasota’s culinary side during Savor Sarasota, the city’s fifth annual restaurant week. Enjoy multicourse meals—$15 for lunch and $25 for dinner—at the city’s finest restaurants.
• Through June 27 — For devotees of the late Princess Diana, the Naples exhibition Princess Diana: Dresses of Inspiration is a must-see. Gowns, shoes, handbags and more dress up the Von Liebig Art Center.

Central

• May 14-15 — Discover new wines at the Tampa Bay Wine & Food Festival on the sands of the Don Cesar Resort in St. Pete Beach. Mingle with celeb chefs and vintners at a VIP pre-event party and grand tasting.
• May 28-30 — The Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival in teeny Zellwood (just north of Orlando) is a sweet-corn hot spot. Peruse arts-and-crafts booths as you savor a taste.
• Through May 31 — Delve into the life of Leonardo da Vinci at Tampa’s Museum of Science and Industry. The Italian exhibition is paired with another from Paris, secrets of Mona Lisa.

North

• May 6-9 — The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach is once again home to the Players Championship. See your fave PGA Tour pros play the 132-yard 17th “Island Green” hole and take home the crystal trophy.
• May 21-23 — The Wild Amelia Nature Festival at Amelia Island State Park includes eco-tours of the island and photo workshops. This year’s focus is the egret.
• May 27-30 — The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is the premier Memorial Day weekend event in downtown Jacksonville. Regional musicians and international performers, the ’Round Midnight Jazz Jam and a Sunday brunch are reasons to go.
