Christmas tree in Whitehall, the Flagler Museum

During a recent trip to Palm Beach, I stopped at the Flagler Museum to see the Christmas tree that graces the Grand Hall of Henry Flagler’s former mansion, now a museum. You’ll be surprised at what the gilded-age millionaire, who set the wheels of Florida’s tourism in motion, and his wife used to decorate their tree.

The work of artist Cyrille Andre at Art Miami.

All of the fabulous art and design exhibitions affiliated with the moniker of Art Basel have come and gone. While here, the city pulsates in a state of total immersion — from the thrill of Wynwood Walls and the boutique-style of Aqua 11 — to the sophistication of Design Miami and lots of other cool stuff.

Los Hermanos Macana, RIAF

Just back from an amazing experience at the Ringling International Arts Festival (RIAF) in Sarasota where a charismatic Argentinean songstress, two wiry tango dancing brothers and a madcap version of Hamlet brought me to my feet.

The Sagamore Hotel, Wall Art

The notion of being immersed in contemporary art was thought provoking. When I stepped into the lobby at the Sagamore Hotel at 16th and Collins on South Beach — sculptures, photographs, paintings and video enveloped me. Talk about visual stimulation!

Wynwood Walls, Wynwood Art Walk

Miami's Wynwood Art Walk held on the second Saturday of the month is a must happening. After a flawless meal at Joey’s (don't miss the tiramisu), I was enthralled and inspired by the genius of Wynwood Walls and all its trappings.

Red, The Steakhouse

No doubt there’s something very sexy about Red, The Steakhouse. I noticed it the very first time I walked into the South Beach restaurant — dimly lit with red glass walls, a large perfectly square bar and cozy booths and tables.

Kennedy Bunker on Peanut Island

I recently had a chance to share some favorite places with friends in from out of town. On a postcard sunny day we headed for a drive north on A1A beginning in Delray Beach and meandering all the way to the new clock tower at South Ocean and Worth Avenue (part of a $15.8 million-dollar spruce up). After drooling past all the lux shops on the tony Palm Beach street, we made our way to C’est Si Bon on Sunset Avenue, a gourmet shop that's near the iconic Breakers. There we chose cheeses and delicious salads for our next stop — lunch on Peanut Island.
