If you aren’t familiar with the story of how the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios came to be, we’ll tell you how this amazing Christmas light show found its way to Orlando.

Epcot Flower & Garden Festival

This is my 12th year covering the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. As the park kicks off its 18th festival (March 2-May 15), I salute Disney’s horticulturists, who manage to come up with new ideas (the Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden with Tink and friends as topiaries is adorable) and spruce up the old ones (last year’s Minnie’s Butterfly Garden has doubled in size and morphed into what is now called Bambi’s Butterfly House).

Whoville, Seuss Landing

I arrived in Whoville as excited as the little kids and their parents congregating there too. Grinchmas at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, is as colorful and sassy as Dr. Seuss fans would hope. Bringing the pages of the beloved books to life, Whoville is all done up with holiday glitz.

Food & Wine Classic

Last Friday, I enjoyed a refreshing Florida fall evening outside at the first annual Food & Wine Classic, hosted at the Swan and Dolphin hotels inside the Disney World resort in Lake Buena Vista. An outdoor area overlooking the water connects these two sister hotels and was the perfect spot for the event.

Pool at Orlando World Marriott Center Resort

I escaped to Orlando for a day at Epcot and to enjoy the Marriott World Center Resort and its amenities. The landscaped swimming pool area alone, with its curvy slide and "mountain" waterfalls, is definitely worth a stay. The resort was hopping with folks in for business meetings (has an attached convention center), but plenty of people were there just for fun. Like me.

Peabody Ducks

Even though I’m a 20-year resident of Orlando, I had yet to make it down to the Peabody hotel to behold the famous marching of the Peabody ducks. This past Monday evening, I got to see the winged waddlers walk the red carpet, led by their gold-and-crimson-clad duck master, to the timbres of John Philip Sousa's “King Cotton March.”

Presidential Suite, Waldorf Astoria

When friends started calling me “The First Lady” I knew I was in for a real treat (and ribbing) when I had a chance to stay in the Presidential Suite of the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando. I was right. Walking across the lobby’s exquisite marble floors, I recognized the Tower Clock immediately. It is a reproduction of the iconic ticker at the classic Waldorf in Manhattan. How wonderful!

A Visit to Disney's Swan and Dolphin

I’ve always admired the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels from afar, especially since contemporary architect Michael Graves designed the buildings.
