Holy Hefeweizen!

A place that serves 500 beers? Is this some Homer Simpson dream sequence? Nope. It's World of Beer, the new brew-topia in Viera, a growing suburb just west of Melbourne (Exit 191 off I-95). Tucked into an airy indoor/outdoor space at The Avenue, World of Beer is decked out with high ceilings, red brick accents and flatscreens galore. But no one is coming for the interior design or high-def picture quality. World of Beer has over 500 beers (50 on tap and 450 by the bottle).

Palm Beach's Art Basel

That wasn't H1N1 you caught earlier this month. That was Baselitis, the dreaded art flu that comes with dry mouth (from the excessive Perrier-Jouet) and lower back pain (from walking up and down and up the aisles of the Miami Beach Convention Center). But trust us: with Art Basel Miami Beach and its many offspring in the rearview, and Christmas/New Year's set to be history in a matter of weeks, your appetite for art will return by early January.

Art on the Space Coast

You could pop up to the Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach to check out C-prints by Alfred Stieglitz, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, and Robert Rauschenberg. But if laid-back, alfresco art-gazing is more your thing, you can't beat the Space Coast Art Festival (spacecoastartfestival.com), which took over downtown Cocoa Beach this past weekend. Now in its 46th year, the two-day event turned North Brevard Avenue into a labyrinth of white tents (the cold tall cans of Kirin Ichiban make you forget how far you've walked).

FT+L's Weekend of Discovery

We had a blast at our very first Weekend of Discovery, held at the Jupiter Beach Resort (jupiterbeachresort.com). I really like the resort's rich traditional interior (think British Colonial/Tommy Bahama). This gem on the Atlantic coastline has a fabulous spa and Sinclairs, a wonderful gourmet dining spot. Our Weekend of Discovery room rate included a spa treatment, a wine-paired dinner and a Sunday jazz brunch.

New in Delray Beach

The Seagate Hotel & Spa (theseagatehotel.com) in Delray Beach is slated to open in late October and the buzz is definitely on. To fuel my curiosities, I took a sneak peek. Local architect Randall Stofft sets the tone with Old Florida-revival style and Bahamian influences. Very vacation-y. The interior is beach chic to the max with a wave motif behind the reception desk along with sea anemone-like lighting fixtures and fossilized limestone walls. Natural reef aquariums with moray eels and wild lionfish dot the public spaces.

Wander down cobblestoned Aviles Street (ah-VEE-lace) in St. Augustine and stop at #6: the new home of Cellar 6 (cellar6.net), open only four months. Walking in, the guitarist upfront was crooning a Dylan tune. A mix of boomers and a just a tad younger, filled the place on a steamy Saturday night.
