"Artcation" Getaway at Boca Raton Resort
When I drive past the Boca Raton Resort I feel a bit wistful. It’s hard not to. The pretty pink Mediterranean Revival “pseudo-Spanish style” landmark is an Addison Mizner dream (circa 1926) and remains stunning to this day. Although this is a members-only venue, getaway packages open to the public include the resort’s lux facilities. Sweet, right?
“Artcation,” gets our vote. A getaway starting from $199 a night, introduces guests to the Boca Raton Museum of Art (don't miss the new "Elvis at Twenty One" photo exhibit), and other nearby cultural highlights.
Sculptures are curated throughout the Boca Raton Resort, including Boaz Vaadia's entryway welcome. Touring the sculptures with an expert from the Elaine Bakery Gallery is part of the "Artcation" package. With the Elaine Baker Gallery now on property—contemporary art is indeed a focal point. A recent unveiling of a new sculpture (shown here) by acclaimed artist Carole Feuerman, left those of us in attendance, including numerous collectors, awestruck. The piece, “Serena [in a blue cap]” is an amazing life-like figure (in resin and oil).
Once fully art-immersed (there are painting lessons at your disposal too), get ready for fab dining coupled with primo people watching. Mojito swordfish at the Sea Grille, over- looking the ocean in the third-floor lobby of the recently renovated over-the-top Beach Club, is a must. The setting is open, airy and pure casual chic. www.bocaresort.com
