At Delray Beach's City Oyster & Sushi Bar
Seated in a banquette, I admire the interior. It’s a constant at City Oyster & Sushi Bar, with lots of rich wood and an antique tin tile ceiling. The comfort factor is huge.
The menu has changed some with new fish entrees and more and I’m contemplating the rear chalkboard with its running list of oysters, which include two from Washington State. But the sushi calls to me: shrimp with avocado and cream cheese lightly battered tempura-style with a crab salad on top. It is delicious.
After a refreshing arugula salad that couples watermelon and feta, I debate over the Hong Kong-style sea bass or seared tuna. Served with a pesto aioli, a gorgeous yellow and red heirloom tomato salad and Parmesan truffle fries, the seared tuna wins out. It is the perfect choice.
I’m told that the restaurant will be baking it’s own bread and pies on premises. Lucky for me, the pies are already happening. The rustic crumbly summer peach creation is topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yum. It’s all part of Big City’s pie of the month promotion created by Lisabet Summa, the enthusiastic culinary director for Big Time Restaurants. Don’t miss out — the peach pies are available this month — in July the docket includes blueberry, and in August, plum and apricot rolls out.
I’m glad to revisit this old friend; I promise myself not to let so much time slip away before I dine here again.
