Dining at Angle at Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach

Dining at Angle at Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach

Dining at Angle, Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach

I had a chance to dine at Angle at the swanky Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach. The focus is on locally grown ingredients and harvests. Deep hues of delicious Loxahatchee Wildlife Rescue Center heirloom tomatoes coupled with slices of watermelon and avocado were the start of a meal rich in textures and flavors. The uber-rich mac ‘n cheese side served in a skillet for two could be the best I’ve ever tasted and the over-the-top woody earthiness of the wild mushroom side paired beautifully with Florida mahimahi accompanied by vanilla rum pineapple and baby bell peppers. All of that would have been more than plenty — but when the strawberry/rhubarb buckle arrived with vanilla yogurt, it was impossible to not dig in. Angle, which was a venue primarily used only for private parties, is now an official Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach option for dining (in addition to the more casual Temple Orange or the lobby’s Stir Bar).

Besides its carefully constructed foodie menu, I'm drawn to the ambience of Angle. It’s the essence of a nighttime supper-club vibe where the grown-ups go for a romantic dinner or simply a quiet, elegant evening with friends. The interior, with its dark chocolate-y palette is dreamy and offers lots of comfy banquettes plus a long under-lit onyx-topped table (it is stunning) for larger parties or a shared dining experience. In the rear, a fireplace glows.

Of note, I had a chance to catch the last of the season's heirloom tomatoes from the Loxahatchee grower. Lucky me! Proceeds from purchases of the Loxahatchee Wildlife Rescue Center heirloom tomatoes benefit the Wildlife Rescue Center. When delivered, the purveyor wears white gloves to avoid bruising the tomatoes when handled. Now that's what I call service.
