I'm a lucky girl. I just snuck a peak at the work of one of the greats of mid-century modern architecture, the Jacksonville-based William Morgan (williammorganarchitects.com). It's the über-cool Morgan Dune House at 1941-1943 Beach Avenue (or as Morgan prefers, Dunehouses), a futuristic duplex-style home with a design often referred to as earth architecture because of the way it fits into the landscape like a puzzle piece. Want to check it out for yourself? The tour I was on, "Modern Classics at the Beach," is an annual March outing - and it's open to the public. Contact the Jacksonville chapter of the American Institute of Architects (aiajacksonville.org). By the way, if you've got a cool $1.8 million and a willingness to preserve this Morgan's legacy, the Dune House happens to be for sale. Contact Tansy Moon of Prudential Network Realty (tansymoon.com), then invite me over for dinner.
