The Orlando Ballet will be leaping into its 2010-2011 season with the classically romantic performance of Giselle. And with the world-renowned American Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie as a guest coach, this performance is anticipated to bring the highest level of dance to Central Florida.

“It is a rare privilege to have Kevin here with us,” Orlando Ballet’s Artistic Director, Robert Hill explains. Old friends and colleagues from the ABT, McKenzie and Hill are both extremely excited to be keeping the art form of ballet relevant in our world today.

“Robert brings an openness to versatility and that is what makes ABT and Orlando Ballet so special,” McKenzie enthuses. Developing a repertoire that draws in audiences by doing the classics on a high level but also exploring new styles to achieve a balance between contemporary and classic is what Hill has planned for the upcoming season.

But whether it’s this weekend’s ethereal classic Giselle or next February’s thrilling Battle of the Sexes II, I’m excited either way. Stunning dancing, amazing choreography and gorgeous dancers is what draws me in every time.

October 22-24 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in Orlando and also November 19-21 at the News-Journal Center in Daytona Beach. www.orlandoballet.org
