Gulf Shrimp on Panama City Beach

Gulf Shrimp on Panama City Beach

Steamed Gulf shrimp at Barefoot Beach Club

In the thick of exploring Panama City Beach — the area’s spectacular beachfront gets my standing ovation. Bravo!  I stood on the white sand mesmerized by the blue green hues of the Gulf of Mexico when something truly magical happened — I actually caught sight of dolphins (yes, I really saw several in the water earlier today). It was a moment.

Later, in search of a small bite, I headed for the Barefoot Beach Club bar and grill. Its appeal is that it sits on prime property — with the sand and Gulf beyond. This popular spot with a relaxed vibe and an easy going crowd was my kind of place.  Perusing the menu — I knew that I could handle a half-pound of steamed Gulf shrimp, no problem. Served with melted butter (a concept I think is deliciously brilliant), I dug in greedily. The plump tasty shrimp, a cold one in a frosty glass and that remarkable view kept me lingering through sunset. I’m on a Gulf shrimp kick now. Can’t wait to see where I’ll eat tomorrow.
