Huge Flavor at Windermere's Yellow Dog Eats

Huge Flavor at Windermere's Yellow Dog Eats

Yellow Dog Eats

I finally made it to Yellow Dog Eats in Windermere (just north of Orlando) this weekend. After two years of hearing glowing recommendations, then a friend suggesting we go on Friday, I had been looking forward to dinner all day long. The rustic vibe of the building that once housed a country store (and still partially does) and charm of walls covered with hand-written notes from modern diners was overshadowed by the smell of barbecue — and my stomach was demanding something to fill it up.

I ordered the Club Elvis sandwich, and was shocked when I saw a mound of pulled pork (topped with thick-sliced bacon and gouda) nearly twice the size of my fist. While my companions bravely pressed down on their top buns until the sandwiches approached a size small ebough to bite into, I opted for a fork. I had planned on eating just half of the delicious pork concoction, but found myself unable to stop until I had scooped up all the juicy meat, and all that remained was the untouched bun. Beyond sated, I borrowed a pen from one of my friends and wrote a note on the wall for future patrons to read — including myself, as I plan to return for another monster sandwich.
