Get your tickets now for the Key West Food & Wine Festival slated for January 26-29, 2012.

Last year, I had a blast at this sun-soaked weekend festival filled with flowing wine, local chef specialties and quirky island surprises. I started out my Saturday morning nibbling on caviar and truffles and sipping an Extra Dry Fantinel Prosecco at the Finer Things in Life Seminar. Lunch was an old-fashioned Shrimp Boil, paired with a sampling of Washington State’s Hogue Family wines, at Hogfish Grill on the Stock Island docks.

Evening brought a mile-long tasting down Duval Street in the heart of Old Town, with its historic architecture and funky boutiques, at the signature event Duval Uncorked. For my nightcap, I shared a toast with a man who was decked out in a purple feather-and-leather skirt complete with a harness in front of the Leather Master store.

Where else can all of that happen in one day?

This year should hold its own surprises with a new Grand Tasting named Turtles and Sharks and Mermaids, OH MY at the historic Key West Aquarium with entertainment by the sexy troupe, Key West Burlesque.

Several of the main events sold out last year, as this weekend finds a permanent spot on foodie calendars.

You can purchase tickets at keywestfoodandwinefestival.com, and I highly recommend going for the VIP package. I promise that once you arrive, you’ll want to partake in as many events as possible.

Grab your flip-flops and come on down! Look for your guide to the Key West Food & Wine Festival in the January/February issue of FT+L.
