Kostya Kimlat does his Magic at Del Frisco's
An invitation to magician Kostya Kimlat’s dinner show at Del Frisco’s Prime Steak & Lobster in Orlando was too intriguing to turn down. First because Del Frisco’s has the reputation of the being one of the best steakhouses in town, and second Kimlat has received raving reviews around town for his dazzling performances.
Seated in a private room with about 30 other diners, we started the evening with a glass of sparkling followed by an appetizer of shrimp on steroids. A handsome Kimlat dressed in a crisp suit (no magician capes) likes to “read minds” and plays a game where select guests write down their favorite place in the world on a piece of paper. He shuffles the papers, while with a keen eye reads facial expressions, before amazingly guessing correctly each participant’s global pick. The main course follows with your choice of filet, strip steak or salmon accompanied by traditional asparagus and chateau potatoes, a rich creamy potato dish that gives new meaning to spuds. The entertainment continues with Kimlat asking if a certain sequence of numbers means anything to the audience. Suddenly the woman next to me says, “That’s my license plate number!” Magically Kimlat pulls out of a small, foldered piece of paper the tag from her car, and the audience roars with delight. Upcoming shows are Sept. 2 and 16.
