Herbal Laconium at Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa

I was filled with anticipation as I headed to Miami Beach for a getaway to the Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa. I couldn’t wait to indulge in the Aquavana Experience — a beautifully designed wonderland for tranquility and renewal (think saunas, foot spas, experiential rains, herbal laconiums and crystal steam rooms). Upon arrival, I was whisked off to my appointment at the Health and Wellness service area for my Healing Energy session.

I met with Energy Healing Practitioner Michelle Maniaci. Her warmth and heartfelt demeanor filled the room. The session involved talking about my life (each session is personalized to your individual needs), followed by massage, breathing techniques and energy flow. While Maniaci’s methodology integrates her intuitive skills and licensed physical therapy background, there’s also something deeply spiritual and moving at the core. And so I can honestly say that my time spent with Maniaci was frankly remarkable. Not only did I feel renewed, but when asked how I felt at the conclusion of the session, there was only one word that came to mind: calm. After, I continued my journey of rejuvenation at the Aquavana Experience where I was enveloped in the healing warmth of herbs in the soothing Laconium; next I lingered amid aromatic essential oils and chromatherapy in the crystal steam room; followed by an experiential storm shower as if I was in a Caribbean monsoon complete with surprising special effects including thunder and lightning. Wow!

As a guest of Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa you can benefit from all that’s offered. Non-guests can also utilize Health and Wellness services (and there are plenty). More good news includes the fact that day spa passes are available. And until August 31, 2011, during Miami Spa Month, there are $99 specials to be had combining spa treatments and the Aquavana Experience.
