Modern Style at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando is a gem in a sea of hotels. Upon arrival, I’m offered a glass of champagne — a touch of hospitality that always wins me over. The property’s $54 million redo is reflected in its more than 800 guest rooms and suites. I ride the glass-enclosed elevator looking out on the lush foliage-filled lobby (where a beautiful red-hued parrot resides) as I make my way to the 17th floor. A modern bi-level loft-suite (#1705) is as circa Mad Men as it can get.
I love the fact that this is my home for two nights. Enthralled with the cool vibe that permeates the space — I take it all in — low-slung white leather chairs, Zebrano wood detailing, a shag-style tendril design iconic floor rug and much more. Am I in a hotel in Orlando or a hip Miami-condo?
The design will grab you, guaranteed. The stairway leading to the loft has linen-like soft-to-the-toes carpet that pairs beautifully with a pale creamy white quartz wall that decorates the space upwards to the stunning loft master bedroom. The master bath is adorned in white and gold wallpaper; a top brand rain shower catches my eye in a stall that’s large enough to live in. Besides all that, there’s a television in the mirror. I think I’m moving in.
While here, explore and enjoy the pool area and its grotto bar aptly named On the Rocks. When hunger calls, walk down an elegant spiral staircase to Cascades off the lobby shops, where a two-story indoor waterfall is the focal point. Don’t miss the lump crabmeat sandwich with remoulade sauce and grilled zucchini; buttermilk crisped calamari; shrimp ravioli in a lemon butter sauce with roasted corn and the most exquisite tiramisu for dessert.
