Orlando’s Fork in the Road Scores a Win
Chef Bryce Balluff traded his restaurant job for his very own self-designed Fork in the Road food truck. Last night at the Fill the Grill cook-off at Orlando’s Whole Foods Market he scored enough points to beat rival Catarina Triacca, whose grilled cheese sandwiches put her on the food-truck map. Given only $20 to buy his ingredients, Balluff managed to whip up his scallops with Mediterranean couscous and grilled tomatoes in the allowed 20 minutes, pleasing my palate and the other two judges.
The next round on July 19 pits food-truck chefs Tony Adams of Big Wheel Provisions against Bruno Fonseca of Five Gastronomy. Balluff will challenge the winner at the final cook-off on July 26. Whole Foods Market, Phillips Crossing, is located at 8003 Turkey Lake Road in Orlando; 407.355.7100.
