When friends started calling me “The First Lady” I knew I was in for a real treat (and ribbing) when I had a chance to stay in the Presidential Suite of the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando (waldorfastoriaorlando.com). I was right. Walking across the lobby’s exquisite marble floors, I recognized the Tower Clock immediately. It is a reproduction of the iconic ticker at the classic Waldorf in Manhattan. How wonderful!

My very own entourage of welcoming Waldorf personnel escorted me to the Presidential Suite. The interior is sophisticated and over-the-top spacious (larger than my current dwelling, to be frank). Windows surround you. Views of the golf course lure you to plan a tee time. Laden in dreamy creamy hues, from the furniture to the fixtures, the Presidential Suite is the epitome of grace and glamour. As I delightfully perused it all—office, living room, dining room, guest bath and kitchen—my entourage led me to the stunning master suite. French doors separate it from the main living area to create a restful sanctuary.

Once I’m alone, I sit on one of the most tasteful couches ever and ponder the possibilities of who else has stayed here. Political leaders, movie stars, sports figures? How funny, I thought. Now me. After a soak in a tub befitting a first lady, I jump into a bed outfitted with lux linens. Watching the flat panel TV rise out of its stand, I’m certain that I could get used to this.
