Paddle Boarding: There's an App for That

Few sports have caught on as quickly and spread interest around the world like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) has done in the past couple years. Where once you'd see just canoeists and kayakers on oceans, lakes, springs, and rivers in Florida, you now frequently see these upright paddlers weaving through our waterways. YOLO Board, one of our state's most recognizable board manufacturers and SUP enthusiasts, has brought paddle boarding to your smartphone.

The app, named SUP Event, brings together anyone with a passion for paddle boarding, keeping you informed about SUP events and gatherings going on in your hometown, across the state and worldwide. "It's an all-around tool to help connect paddlers and keep everyone in the loop," says YOLO Board co-founder Jeff Archer, "Our goal is to build a database for anyone in the SUP community to be able to access anywhere, anytime."

The app also blasts SUP-related news, lists nearby equipment rental locations and features user-generated photos and videos so you can see the next spot you'll want to drive (or fly) to with your board. The best part is that the app is free, and available for iPhone and Android platforms. Happy paddling!
