Spa Time in Tallahassee

While in Tallahassee I found a happening area known as Midtown—sated with fun boutiques, fab dining and a treasure trove of shops. Located in the Midtown Design Center are darling Lucy & Leo’s Cupcakery and Bali Hi with its beautiful painted bracelets. Just two of my finds here. But on this particular day my focus was on an appointment at Kanvas (kanvasbeauty.com), the spa of choice for guests of Tallahassee’s hip new Hotel Duval.

The ambience of Kanvas is lovely. The spa is owned by FSU grad Lisa Mergel, who was lured back by this engaging city to call it home. Mergel has an amazing touch and a keen sense of analysis for what your skin requires. Her deft massage is unequaled by any other (not kidding). The Kanvas inventory is full of gorgeous products Mergel has painstakingly chosen. Her anti-aging facial incorporates Darphin, a superb line from France. It won me over. That evening at dinner, I swear, I was glowing. When I return to Tallahassee, my next facial at Kanvas will definitely be booked.
