Sunset Celebration at Key West's Mallory Square

Sunset Celebration at Key West's Mallory Square

Will Soto at the nightly Sunset Celebration, Mallory Square

Will Soto's been living it up in Key West for more than 30 years. He's one of the original founders of the Sunset Celebration and he's happily still going strong. Soto is among a slew of other performers — from mimes to balladeers — who bring Mallory Square to life as the sun bids goodnight.

Soto's act is original and overflowing with humor. His clever quips with people meandering about who he encourages to stop and watch his show are chuckle-worthy. Plus, there's lots of physicality. The wiry Soto's forte is his skilled tightrope walking paired with juggling. He artfully balances with balls in hand and even flaming fire sticks. Soto is a Key West icon. Above all, he is the ultimate performance artist.

Look for more on Will Soto and other notable Key West residents (including those illustrious chickens) in the March/April issue of FT+L.
