I arrived for a weekend escape at the very lux One Ocean Resort in the Town Center of Atlantic Beach (north of Jacksonville Beach) to gorgeous blue skies and 70-something degrees. Perfect! When I told the valet I was checking in and gave him my name, I was whisked away by what is referred to as the “Seamless Check-in.” What a concept. No waiting in line to swipe a credit card here. No way. Rather, my “Docent” was waiting for me at my beautiful beachside room ready to assist with an explanation of amenities and more. Docent is the new-fangled term for private concierge at One Ocean.  Here, the Resort’s “One-touch” button on the phone is answered immediately to provide you with whatever it is you might need. Coffee? Coming right up. An iron? Not here. Instead, the docent arranges for someone to steam press whatever it is you had planned to labor over. Nice, right? With the $25 daily resort fee, there are always snacks and beverages available in your room (before you arrive, you actually receive an e-mail so you can pre-order snacks to have upon arrival). There’s a menu of comestibles for the choosing from sparkling water to candy bars and chips. Now I’ll expect all weekend escapes to begin like this. www.oneoceanresort.com
