Plant City Strawberries
Just east of Tampa, fields turn bright red in February, making Florida the winter capital of strawberries. Pick varieties like camarosa and camino real, November through March.
The berries are easy on sweetness and firm, and thus hold together when sliced. Best eaten by themselves the day you buy them, they’re also delicious on shortcake with whipped cream.
