How do you define “fun?” For some, a day at the Magic Kingdom is heaven while others might prefer a day on the slopes or a quiet nook near a sandy beach. But if you had to rank each state in terms of how fun it is, where would Florida land? Second, according to a new study by WalletHub.
We know you’re wondering so we’ll end the suspense: California was ranked ahead of Florida.
In order to determine the most fun states in America, WalletHub compared the 50 states across two key categories, “Entertainment & Recreation” and “Nightlife.” Metrics such as the number of attractions, restaurants per capita, shoreline mileage, access to scenic byways, personal spending on recreation services and more were considered.
Florida was tied for first with California, New York and Texas for restaurants per capita. (Alaska had the fewest). Florida also tied for first for marinas per capita.
Believe it or not, Florida wasn’t the state with the fewest skiing facilities per capita. That was Kentucky.
Here are the Top 10 Most Fun States according to WalletHub:
- California
- Florida
- Nevada
- New York
- Illinois
- Colorado
- Texas
- Washington
- Minnesota
- Louisiana
And because you’re also asking “what were the least fun states…”: Mississippi was ranked 50th in terms of fun, followed by West Virginia, Delaware, Rhode Island and Arkansas.
