Between the roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie – we can go on and on – a lot of time gets spent in the kitchen preparing a Thanksgiving feast. Do you have all the right accessories to make it a holiday the family will remember? Don’t forget the Thanksgiving-themed kitchen towels. The right collection will mop up any mess and set the mood for an incredible day of giving thanks while toasting the holiday season.

The modern Thanksgiving holiday is modeled on the 1621 feast between the Pilgrims of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people. It was actually more of an impromptu party, with the Native Americans showing up unexpectedly at the settlement’s gates. But because their brought food – venison, fish, vegetables and even beer – it became a civilized affair we still celebrate today. These dish towels are made of 100 percent cotton and are available in a variety of designs – we picked the one that reminds us of the fall. Machine wash them and dry in the tumble cycle for maximum longevity.

Originally, the date of Thanksgiving was always the final Thursday in November. It was President Franklin D. Roosevelt who officially designated the fourth Thursday of the month as Thanksgiving Day. We love these pumpkin, leaf, blessing and pick-up truck towels for the big day in the kitchen. (For that matter, they’d look great in the guest bathroom too.) We have a set already seating on the kitchen counter downstairs and I can assure you the patterns and artwork are much more vibrant to the photos here. I do recommend drying on a line after a machine wash on tumble to keep them that way.

Ever been curious whether Canada celebrates Thanksgiving? It does, but it’s on the second Monday in October. The tradition marks a celebration in 1578 led by the explorer Martin Frobisher to give thanks for the safety of his fleet. Consider this kitchen towel set “North American-friendly” in design because they celebrate traditional fall symbols such as pumpkins and leaves. They’re oversized at 18×28 inches and are made from a microfiber material that’s durable and quick to absorb.
