Our Favorite Pics from Star Wars Celebration in Orlando … So Far

From snapshots with Mark Hamill to amazing fan costume pics, the people-watching is interstellar at Star Wars Celebration 2017.

Remember the last time Star Wars Celebration was in Orlando? It was a long time ago at a convention center not so far far away. Okay, it was 2012. So imagine our excitement to have the annual sci-fi convention back at the Orange County Convention Center this weekend. We’ve been watching the action unfold on Instagram. Here are some of our favorite pics so far.

Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford get a group shot with Billie Lourd, daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, who stood in for her mom during the Star Wars reunion photos.

Okay, pop quiz. Who knows the name of the furry creature in this photo? It’s a “Wampa,” of course, and is best known for trying to kill (and eat) Luke Skywalker on the ice planet Hoth in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Apparently this one has chilled out and just likes to give hugs.

Wow, get a load of that … TIE fighter. You don’t normally expect to see a Leia fan posing in front of one, but this is Orlando. (TIE, by the way, stands for “twin ion engines,” which propel the starfighter of the Empire. Finally, all the stuff we learned when we were 10 years old is paying off)

Mark Hamill poses with a family of fans in Orlando. Though Hamill only made a short cameo at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he’s expected to return to a lead role in this year’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which hits theaters in December.

Crowd control at Star Wars Celebration apparently has been turned over to some private security force. We’re sure nothing will go wrong.

Who is this? You’d probably have to be a fan of Star Wars Rebels to recognize Hera Syndulla, the daughter of freedom fighter Cham Syndulla.

Impressive. Very impressive. That’s Poe Dameron from Star Wars: The Force Awakens built entirely with Lego bricks.
