Fans of the mouse have longed for a custom license plate to share their obsession for all things Disney. According to Florida Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, the state offers more than 100 speciality plates supporting sports teams, causes, and various special interests but has never featured a Disney option—until now. Earlier this spring, (March 2021) the official Disney Parks website announced a Disney license plate designed to help celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary in October. The graphic features the iconic Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom.
The plate is currently available for presale and is extra magical as 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida. Disney has partnered with the foundation for more than 40 years, and has created more than 145,000 Disney-inspired experiences for children with critical illnesses.
In order for the state of Florida to move forward producing new specialty license plates, interest is initially measured by presale numbers and orders must hit 3,000 within 24 months for a plate to be approved for production. Of course Disney wouldn’t have any trouble with that. According to data available on FLHSMV, Disney is approaching 9,000 presale transactions. It could be another 4-6 months before the plate is available.
