African Queen

Get on board for a daily cruise or rent it out for a private taste of Hollywood glamour. Gary Bogdon

A Hollywood icon has reemerged in Key Largo. After extensive restoration work, African Queen, the 30-foot riverboat that carried Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn in the eponymous 1951 film, is sailing again. Veteran boat operators Lance and Suzanne Holmquist saw the 100-year-old boat in a local marina and turned their love of old movies into an opportunity both for themselves and for nostalgic cinephiles. Canal cruises run through the island’s canals, past mangroves and into the Atlantic. Or extend your time on the boat and upgrade to the dinner cruise—with this option you’ll stop for three-course meal at the Pilot House Restaurant. Passengers are even able to take turns steering the beloved boat, an experience they don’t soon forget!
