Family-friendly Halloween celebrations are a tradition at Disney in a state where the competition prefers to scare their guests half to death.

We’re happy to learn that “Halloween on the High Seas” is returning to Disney Cruise Line later this year, joining the annual Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party held at the Central Florida theme park each fall.

Halloween on the High Seas is available fleet-wide on Disney Cruises starting in September. Activities will include trick or treating, Halloween crafts, special themed movies, treats and more.

Disney characters on the ships also will dress in Halloween costumes. In 2022, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck and Clarabelle Cow dressed as the iconic “Sanderson sisters” from the movie Hocus Pocus.

Up the street from Disney, Universal Orlando has its own signature fall event Halloween Horror Nights. At Tampa’s Busch Gardens, Howl-O-Scream is the big attraction. Both events offer scarier horror events and are geared toward more mature guests.
