Racks Downtown Eatery and Tavern, the stunning new hot spot on the dining scene at Mizner Park in Boca Raton, is doing more than just filling the void where Pranzo once stood. It’s establishing itself as a fun foodie destination, thanks to Chef Matthew Danaher, whose delicious point of view regarding ingredients comes to life in both plate presentation and taste. Having judged many a restaurant based solely on the calibre of its bread offerings, I know instantly I'm in for a treat. A lunch-size brown bag arrives at the table with pretzel rolls served with a mustard dipping sauce. It’s a challenge to eat only one of these and I guarantee you’ll be thinking about pretzel rolls for days.

    Key West's Casa Marina Resort

I love Key West for its Old Town, where funky bars, restaurants, shops and Ernest Hemingway’s Home and Museum make for a lively experience. But when it comes to serious relaxation I prefer to sway in a hammock and rest my head at the historic Casa Marina Resort—just far enough from the cacophony and crowds for which Key West is famous, but close enough to bicycle over to the main drag, Duval Street, when the urge strikes.

I escaped to Orlando for a day at Epcot and to enjoy the Marriott World Center Resort and its amenities. The landscaped swimming pool area alone, with its curvy slide and "mountain" waterfalls, is definitely worth a stay. The resort was hopping with folks in for business meetings (has an attached convention center), but plenty of people were there just for fun. Like me.

Even though I’m a 20-year resident of Orlando, I had yet to make it down to the Peabody hotel to behold the famous marching of the Peabody ducks. This past Monday evening, I got to see the winged waddlers walk the red carpet, led by their gold-and-crimson-clad duck master, to the timbres of John Philip Sousa's “King Cotton March.”
